If you thought about taking up Yoga
You are not alone...

This is MY story of how I got into Yoga...

When I was a teenager, I seriously injured my lower back trying to pick up a heavy plant. Something just popped and all I remember was feeling a sharp pain and not being able to move swiftly.

It was so hard to go to sleep every night because it was so painful.

I learned my lesson to use your legs when you lift heavy objects.

It took about 6 months before I could actually move freely without feeling much pain. It was a long and excruciating time trying to rehab my back. I could tell this was going to be a long recovery process.

The fact that I didn't go seek any professional advice didn't help either. I was afraid of coughing up $1000 of money in medical fees. I just tried to fix it on my own.

My back got better as time passed but I would occasionally feel the pain every time I abnormally twist my body. I knew I had to get help, so I searched online.

Thank goodness for the internet.

I researched and researched on how I could successfully strengthen my lower back so it would have more support when I do activities that require bending over or lifting. To my surprise the answer pointed towards Yoga.

I always knew about Yoga but never really looked into it. I researched which type of Yoga was best for my situation.

I started routinely doing simple poses that helped strengthen my back muscles for about 15 to 30 min a day.

It wasn't easy at first because these poses actually make you sweat and help burn that extra calorie. But before I knew it, I was doing back arches without a problem. (Took me about 3-4 months)

Living in Hawaii, it's not hard to find nice beaches you can go to with nice rhythmic sound of the ocean waves in the background, so I would time to time relax my mind and do these yoga poses at these beaches.

It not only helped strengthen my core muscles but it also rejuvenated and released all the tension and stress I had built up from the daily noises.

Now I'm not saying you will be able to do a back arches immediately from a serious back injury

It takes time, but Yoga makes it so much more convenient and easy to strengthen and stretch your core muscles that it helps prevent you from getting muscle related injuries.
